What is the difference between commercial soap and natural soap?
The main difference between our natural soap and commercial soap is that our natural soaps are free from chemicals that make soap a certain color, hard, or foamy. All ingredients in our natural soap are just that, natural! Who knows what sodium cocoyl isethionate, sodium isethinate, titanium dioxide, Polyethylene glycols, and tetrasodium are? These are chemicals that are often found in commercial soaps that can be irritants for people with sensitive skin.
Why do you recommend Normal Things natural vegan soap over commercial soap?
We like knowing exactly what is in the body care products that we use and given the opportunity, we think others would feel the same! Our theory is that if it is good to put in your body, then it is good to put on your body. The soaps that we make are comprised of normal, familiar ingredients that can be found in a kitchen such as vegetable oils, salt, sugar, and herbs.
How long will the soap last?
This mainly depends on how often the soap is used and whether or not the soap is stored in a dry place while not in use. Our soaps can last from one and a half weeks to three weeks.
How do you make soap?
We make soap by combining the appropriate proportions of vegetable oils, water, and lye. We use the cold process method and choose to add natural, plant-based goodies to the soap to give it personality. All of our soaps are free from detergents, dyes, preservatives, and chemicals.
How long does it take to make soap?
The actual amount of time it takes to make soap is relatively short- anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Since we use the cold process method, it takes between 4 to 6 weeks for the soap to cure and be ready to use. The longer the soap cures, the harder the bar is and the longer it will last once it starts being used.
