My absolute favorite summertime drink is sangria! I am a self-proclaimed red wine connoisseur so I prefer red wine sangria over white. I can make this recipe in less than 10 minutes and I usually don't have to run out and buy the ingredients since they are staples. One great thing about sangria is that you don't have to buy the fanciest or most expensive bottle of wine to make tasty sangria. Sometimes when I try a new wine and it isn't as good as I was hoping, I just use it to make sangria. Citrus fruit helps balance out a wine that may be a bit dry when drank solo. Cheers to this citrus sangria (plus apple) recipe!
1 1.5L Bottle of Liberty Creek Cabernet Sauvignon
1 Liter of Sprite
8 ounces of Jack Daniels Whiskey
1 Naval Orange
1 Fuji Apple
Rinse all of the fruit before cutting them in halves, then quarters, and then ultimately small triangles or cubes. Save one quarter of the apple for garnish. In a 3L pitcher, add all of the cut fruit. Next add the wine, Sprite, and whiskey. Stir well, add the lid, and then chill the sangria for at least one hour before serving. Slice the remaining quarter apple into thin, long slice and add to glasses for garnish.
