First Stop: Three Fold Noodles & Dumpling Co.
Located in downtown Little Rock, this restaurant has a simple menu and a straight forward concept. You pick your base, protein, and level of spice and you're done! The base options are noodles, dumplings, or sticky bun. Protein options are tofu, pork, and chicken. Spiciness can range from not spicy to medium spicy to spicy to really spicy. I went for the noodle bowl with the braised tofu and medium spicy sauce. Mixed all together, the noodle bowl was fantastic! And filling! I tried the Bubble Tea for the first time and it wasn't too sweet. It took some getting used to munching on the tapioca balls as they zipped up the straw along with the tea, but overall I did like the Bubble Tea. I also got to try my companion's spicy tofu dumplings and taro root chips- amazing! The spicy wasn't too spicy and the dumpling filling was seasoned well. I loved the taro chips; they were light and salted lightly just like I like. The staff was super friendly and gave us the whole spiel when we shared that we were first time visitors to the restaurant. Three Fold Noodles & Dumpling Co. is super vegan friendly so I highly recommend this restaurant if you are ever in "The Rock".
Second Stop: Cafe Bossa Nova
I went to Cafe Bossa Nova for brunch before heading to the Clinton Presidential Library. On Sunday, the lunch and dinner portions of the menu aren't served but everything else is along with brunch. There were few vegan options to choose from this Brazilian menu but I knew that was to be expected. I chose the Mista Salad which was composed of organic mixed baby greens, mandarin oranges, and caramelized slivered almonds. The salad was lightly dressed with a house dressing- vinegar and oil based most likely. Sweet, tangy, and a little crunchy! I knew I needed more food to make it through the afternoon so we headed straight for the bakery that I saw on the way into the cafe.
Third Stop: Rosalia's Family Bakery
This Brazilian bakery is located in the same strip as Cafe Bossa Nova. We stopped in with 15 minutes left before closing and the man behind the counter greeted us warmly. I love when vegan options are clearly labeled in food establishments. I was able to make a beeline right for the two vegan treat options: Sugar Cookies and Carrot Cake. As tempted as I was to get both vegan options and try them for the greater good of all vegan dessert lovers, I knew I only needed one. Vegan and gluten-free, I knew that I'd hit the jackpot with the Sugar Cookie! When I actually tasted the cookie I knew I made a mistake by only buying one. The cookie was delicious, perfectly sweetened, and not too dense. I will absolutely be back for more the next time I am in the area. Maybe I will even try the Carrot Cake, too.
